About the author: Peter A. Weil, Ph.D., FACHE, is vice president of the division of research and development of the American College of Healthcare Executives. In addition to leading the study of hospital management and governance practices that promote community health, he conducts periodic surveys to compare executives' careers by gender and race/ethnicity. Dr. Weil also just completed a book for hospital CEOs and boards about eh substance and process of CEO evaluation.
