Program Spotlight:
Congress 2023: Connect With the Boldest and Brightest
ACHE’s Congress on Healthcare Leadership is considered the event to attend for many reasons, including the opportunity to learn from and connect with leaders from the biggest and most influential organizations in healthcare and beyond. Following are a sampling of the speakers who will be presenting:
- Advocate Health CEOs Jim Skogsbergh, FACHE, and Eugene A. Woods, FACHE, will address current challenges nonprofit health systems are facing during “Leadership Insights: Mission, Margin and the Future State of Health System Success,” Monday, March 20.
- Explore Mayo Clinic’s ICONIC framework—established to provide continuous care across different settings—on Monday, March 20, with Natalie Caine, FACHE, associate administrator; Lindsey Philpot, PhD, director, Innovation; and Lindsey Lehman, operations administrator. During “Intelligent Continuous Integrated Care (ICONIC): Clinical Innovation Through Transitions of Care,” these Mayo Clinic leaders will share lessons learned from the two years of framework implementation.
- Join Marcus Osborne, retail health expert/former senior vice president, Walmart Health, and Caitlin Donovan, global head, Uber Health, Tuesday, March 21, for “Hot Topic: The Next Phase of Retail Health and Wellness.” These leading experts in the retail health space will discuss how healthcare delivery models are evolving to meet consumer demands.
Other big-name companies that will be represented at the 2023 Congress include Amazon, General Catalyst, HCA Healthcare, Kaiser Permanente and Verily Health Platforms.
Amplify your opportunities to meet leaders from these companies during one of the many networking sessions offered at Congress, including two Speed Networking and First-Time Congress Attendees Orientations on Sunday, March 19, and Monday, March 20, and two general Congress Networking Receptions on Monday, March 20, and Wednesday, March 22.
There are also networking opportunities geared toward attendees who share a commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in healthcare leadership (Sunday, March 19), Student Associates (Monday, March 20), ACHE Fellows (Monday, March 20), international attendees (Tuesday, March 21), healthcare consultants (Tuesday, March 21), physician executives (Tuesday, March 21) and representatives of the Joint Federal Sector (Tuesday, March 21).
If you haven’t already reserved your spot with one of our registration options, don’t delay! Education sessions fill up quickly. Visit ache.org/Congress to register and learn more.

How DEI Contributes to Effective Leadership
Ensuring that diversity, equity and inclusion becomes part of a health system’s bloodstream—and not just a program or a box to check—is vital to effective leadership that ensures provider teams feel well cared for, want to stay and perform at the top of their abilities, system leaders say.
In a recent Healthcare Executive article, we share providers’ approaches for recruiting and retaining diverse workforces. For example, Karen Mayer, RN, FACHE, professor at Rush University College of Nursing’s doctoral program, encourages healthcare leaders to hire diverse employees for entry-level positions like nursing assistants and then offering them educational staff benefits so they can work their way up.
Read the full article for more insights from healthcare leaders on how they are diversifying their workforces and ensuring that people from various racial and ethnic backgrounds and other diverse groups feel well cared for, available only on HealthcareExecutive.org/WebExtras.
