This month, explore timely issues for today’s healthcare executives in two upcoming webinars on post-election health law and a COVID-19 road map.

Tomorrow, join presenter Sarah F. Fontenot, JD, adjunct professor, Health Law, Trinity University, for a webinar that will provide a nonpolitical, forward-facing assessment of the 2020 election and what it means for healthcare in 2021. During “Moving On: Planning for Our Post-Election Healthcare Environment,” Fontenot will address how healthcare leaders can best prepare for what is to come from all branches of U.S. government. Worth 1 ACHE Qualified Education credit, this webinar is free for CEO Circle members.

During a Dec. 17 webinar, “COVID-19 Vaccines: The Progression and Challenges Faced,” Eva Karp, DHA, RN-BC, FACHE, senior vice president/chief clinical and patient safety officer, Cerner, will lead a discussion that will provide insights for healthcare systems preparing for the much-anticipated COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, panelists from a large pediatric health system and a regional hospital will share how they are planning to administer the vaccine based on state and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Worth 1 ACHE Qualified Education credit, this complimentary webinar is made possible in part by the support of Cerner, an ACHE Premier Corporate Partner.

CMS Announces Guidance for Medicare Coverage of COVID-19 Antibody Treatment

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services recently announced the availability of updated information about coverage and payment for monoclonal antibodies to treat COVID-19. On Dec. 9, CMS posted updates to FAQs that include general payment and billing guidance for these products, including questions about different setting types. The agency also posted an infographic with key facts about expected Medicare payment to providers and information about how Medicare beneficiaries can receive these innovative COVID-19 treatments, with no cost-sharing during the pandemic.

CMS’ previous announcement about coverage of monoclonal antibody therapies allows a broad range of providers and suppliers to administer this treatment in accordance with the Food & Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization and bill Medicare to administer these infusions.
