Just Culture and Governance
Nearly 80% of healthcare organizations report they have adopted a “just culture.” In the March/April issue of Healthcare Executive, we explore how more organizations are strengthening just culture and the role of governance when it comes to quality and patient safety.
The cover story, “The Promise and Practice of a Just Culture,” highlights three organizations and their experiences in creating and adopting a just culture process. Meanwhile, our second feature, “Engaging the Board in Patient Safety Goals,” zeros-in on the active engagement of governance in quality oversight.
Don’t miss our special feature, “An Interview With ACHE’s 2020–2021 Chairman,” in which Michael J. Fosina, FACHE, president, NewYork-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital, Bronxville, N.Y., and senior vice president, NewYork-Presbyterian, New York, shares his professional experiences and plans for ACHE. He will assume office at the Council of Regents Meeting March 21.

Your February Gift: 2020 Congress Authors and Insights
This ACHE member gift highlights authors who will present at the 2020 Congress on Healthcare Leadership. The following readings offer a unique perspective on key skills for leaders to develop and hone.

Lamberton, FACHE, examine why emotional intelligence is particularly helpful early in a career in this chapter from The Emerging Healthcare Leader: A Field Guide, Second Edition.
Next, Alan T. Belasen, PhD, provides insight on the key role that physician leaders play in driving the collaboration needed for effective clinical integration. Learn more about this transformation of health system culture in a chapter from this new release, Dyad Leadership and Clinical Integration: Driving Change, Aligning Strategies.
