Healthcare Marketing Faces Unique Demands

Healthcare marketing has evolved as a result of the industry’s expansion into areas like telehealth and population health management. Meanwhile, patients have become savvy consumers, open to innovative approaches and more intent on playing a proactive role in their care experience, according to author Richard K. Thomas, PhD.

With more than 40 years of real-world healthcare marketing behind him, Thomas has witnessed these industry changes and offers leaders foundational knowledge on healthcare marketing and detailed information on traditional and contemporary techniques in his revised book, Marketing Health Services, Fifth Edition (ACHE Learn, 2024).

These methods include understanding the behavior patterns of healthcare consumers and the sources of information for them, using community needs assessments and how they shape strategy, and learning how social media can be a vital communication and marketing tool.
