National Hispanic Heritage Month: Love, Hustle and Grit

“As you celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month … lean into the challenges that require extra hustle and grit,” writes Michael Montoya, FACHE, vice president, primary and urgent care, Presbyterian Medical Group, Albuquerque, N.M., in a recent ACHE Blog post. He emphasizes that “we do all that we do … for love.”

Montoya, who is also a 2023 Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program scholar, penned the recent ACHE Blog post to recognize National Hispanic Heritage Month, which began Sept. 15. In the post, he tells his family’s story, including anecdotes about his grandfather, who worked for the local pharmacy in Albuquerque in the summer of 1942. “An eagerness to work hard, expressed through kindness and always directed toward service, was as deeply embedded into our family life as the impulse to take a breath,” says Montoya.
