Program Spotlight:

Advancing Diverse Executives in 2021 and Beyond

Meet the 11 scholars who have been selected for ACHE’s 2021 Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program. They come from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines, including two physicians, the president of a hospice facility and a regional officer with the Department of Homeland Security, and represent community hospitals such as Tséhootsooí Medical Center in Ft. Defiance, Ariz., and large multihospital systems such as NYC Health + Hospitals. Since 2014, the Executive Diversity Program has helped to prepare senior-level healthcare careerists from underrepresented groups to ascend to and advance in the C-suite of hospitals, health systems and other healthcare organizations. The 2021 Dolan Executive Diversity Program offers scholars exclusive access to convenient e-learning and networking options, including interactive live webinars, self-study materials, recorded webinars and collaboration with cohort peers.

Additionally, mid-careerists from racially, ethnically and LGBTQ-diverse backgrounds can apply to the inaugural Career Accelerator Program, for which the application period is open from April 5 through May 14. This new program empowers mid-level careerists to advance to higher leadership roles. To apply for the 2021 Dolan Career Accelerator Program, review the application requirements here, and complete the application for submission here.

Meet Tomorrow’s Challenges With the 2021 Executive Program

ACHE’s Executive Program is a unique learning experience that fosters the development of bold new solutions and supports individualized professional development and organizational goals for healthcare leaders. Divided into three cohorts, the Executive Program is designed for executives, senior executives and physician executives.

This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Executive Program will be offered through a series of interactive virtual courses, panel discussions, professional leadership assessments and individualized coaching and career advising sessions. All Executive Program participants will earn up to 40 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits for completing the program, which has educational modules in June, August and October, individualized career coaching sessions and participant process improvement projects. Learn more about the program agenda here.

A limited number of scholarships, supported by the Fund for Healthcare Leadership, are available for individuals whose organizations lack the resources to fully fund their tuition. Scholarship applications will be accepted until April 23. Learn more about the scholarships and apply here.

Speakers Wanted for 2022 Congress

ACHE is accepting speaker proposals for next year’s Congress on Healthcare Leadership. The deadline is May 21.

The 2022 Congress will be held March 28–31, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. Congress sessions focus on the experiences of healthcare leaders, enterprise decision-makers or those implementing new technologies or processes. Proposals generally should be consistent with that focus and any new methodologies, techniques or tools used to support such application. Most importantly, proposals should explicitly describe applicable take-away tools and practical knowledge that will be part of the session.

Preference will be given to proposals that align with the identified topics of interest. Proposals will be reviewed based on their relevancy to current trends and the operational needs of our members.

New Book: Lead the Way in Five Minutes a Day

“Culture rules, and leaders play a huge role in creating, maintaining, and supporting it. Even when we know that culture is important, we still might question how to influence it. My best advice? Just start.” This is how author Jo Anne Preston begins Chapter 10 of her new book, Lead the Way in Five Minutes a Day: Sparking High Performance in Yourself and Your Team. This chapter, along with the 10 others in this book, cover every day, real-life topics such as communication, diversity and workplace culture. Each chapter begins with a self-assessment guide to help readers identify relevant strengths to develop and opportunities for growth.

Although leaders cannot prepare for every situation, they can be prepared to lead, and this book will help spark their leadership potential and show executives the way to high performance. Learn more and order your copy today.
