ACHE Policy Statements Updated

The Board of Governors approved at its November meeting in Chicago changes to six existing ACHE Policy Statements and one Ethical Policy Statement suggested by subject matter experts to the Board Policy Committee. The committee revised statements to reflect updates to data, terminology and language; to incorporate contemporary solutions and current, real-life healthcare management experience; and to clarify ACHE’s position in certain policy positions and to ensure they reflect ACHE’s values. The following statements were updated:

Being Strategic on Innovation

Although hospitals and health systems are understandably risk averse, being innovative can take organizations to the next level without disrupting day-to-day operations. In the January/February issue of Healthcare Executive, we explore how healthcare organizations are stepping outside the status quo to make improvements.

In our cover story, “Creating a Culture of Innovation: Instilling a Spirit of Creative Problem Solving,” we highlight three organizations whose leadership is helping to develop “creativity muscles,” which will lead to breakthroughs of all shapes and sizes.

The second feature, “Getting to True Innovation: Moving the Next Idea Forward,” examines how hospital and health system leaders can use courage and fortitude to turn a vision for innovation into disruptive positive change.

Also, don’t miss “Harnessing the Power of Technology to Change the World”—a Q&A with Mick Ebeling, founder and CEO, Not Impossible Labs, and a preview of the 2020 Congress on Healthcare Leadership. Ebeling will deliver the Parker B. Francis Distinguished Lecture at the Opening Session of the 2020 Congress.

It Isn’t Too Early to Recertify Your FACHE® Credential

If you are board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, why not give yourself a head start on the recertification process? Fellows are required to recertify their credential every three years.

You can learn more about the recertification process by visiting ache.org/FACHE and selecting the Recertification button from the menu.
