Podcast: The Most Important Job You Have as a Leader
“Every one of us as leaders plays a critical role to set the agenda around culture and to set the attitude and the way that we expect people to conduct themselves,” says Warner Thomas, FACHE, president/CEO, Sutter Health, Sacramento, Calif.
Thomas believes that in addition to the CEO setting the organizational culture, department leaders have a role to play in structuring their team’s individual culture, setting strategy and ensuring accountability. “It’s a critical role for any leader in their areas of responsibility,” says Thomas.
Learn more about how investing in company culture can directly contribute to an organization’s success by listening to Thomas’ full podcast episode. You can find ACHE’s full library of podcasts here.
Assessing Your Leadership and Inclusivity Competencies
An important part of growing as a leader is knowing your strengths and weaknesses, and ACHE’s Healthcare Executive Competencies Assessment Tool is the perfect instrument to assess your expertise. Updated yearly, this tool can assist leaders in formulating a professional development plan to account for skills gaps.
New this year is the Inclusive Leadership Competencies Assessment Tool, which offers healthcare leaders a way to assess and foster inclusive cultures and lead through a lens of equity. This tool was created with experts using current research evidence on what works to advance care for diverse populations.
Visit the Healthcare Leadership Competencies webpage to learn more about assessing your healthcare leadership competencies.
