Program Spotlight: Congress 2021 to Offer New Leadership Insights Sessions
This year, we invite you to explore trending healthcare topics during new, moderated discussions at the reimagined Congress on Healthcare Leadership. During “Addressing Mental Health Needs in the Digital Age,” presenters Wayne Young, FACHE, CEO, The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD, and Megan Jones Bell, PsyD, chief strategy and science officer, Headspace Inc., will examine how healthcare and solutions providers are meeting the need for evidence-based mental healthcare through the innovative use of digital health tools.
Meanwhile, “The Next Phase of Digital Health” will explore how hospitals and health systems are collaborating with solutions providers to navigate the rapidly evolving digital health landscape with a panel composed of Bruce Brandes, senior vice president, Consumer Centered Virtual Care, Teladoc; Thomas X. Lee, MD, CEO, Galileo; and Roberta Levy Schwartz, PhD, FACHE, executive vice president/CIO, Houston Methodist.
We hope you will join us March 22–25 to learn more about these critical trending topics during this year’s virtual experience. Register today for an early-bird fee of only $449. Visit ache.org/Congress to learn more.

ACHE Policy Statements Updated
The Board of Governors approved at its virtual November meeting changes to four existing ACHE Policy Statements and one Ethics Policy Statement suggested by subject matter experts to the Board Policy Committee. The committee revised statements to reflect updates to data, terminology and language; to incorporate contemporary solutions and current, real-life healthcare leadership experience; and to clarify ACHE’s position in certain policy positions and to ensure they reflect ACHE’s values. The following statements were updated:
- “Considering the Value of Experienced Healthcare Executives Regardless of Age”
- “Creating an Ethical Culture Within the Healthcare Organization” (Ethics Policy Statement)
- “Healthcare Executives' Role in Emergency Management”
- “Increasing and Sustaining Racial/Ethnic Diversity in Healthcare Leadership”
- “Preventing and Addressing Workplace Abuse: Inappropriate and Disruptive Behavior”
Policy Statements can be found at ache.org/PolicyStatements, and Ethics Policy Statements at ache.org/EthicsPolicyStatements.

Improve Clinical and Financial Performance With New Digital Self-Study Course
Minimizing readmissions, never events and infectious complications require harmonious teams to achieve progress, not silos. One of ACHE’s new digital self-study courses, “Coordinated Care: Improving Clinical and Financial Performance,” will explore how involving clinicians improves organizational performance while allowing participants to earn 6 ACHE Qualified Education credit hours from the convenience of their computer or mobile device. This course, which is based on Health Administration Press book Getting It Done: Experienced Healthcare Leaders Reveal Field-Tested Strategies for Clinical and Financial Success, will help attendees decrease the number of people who die from sepsis by improving the care process without changing drugs, engage physicians in decreasing the cost of equipment and supplies, and improve operating room teamwork and productivity.
