Program Spotlight:

Personalize Your Cluster Experience and Earn Credits

Escape to Orlando this Dec. 11–13 and enjoy time in the sun while earning up to 24 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits. Mix and match your education, choosing from seminars like “Workplace Transformation: How to Promote Clinician Wellness and Create a Roadmap for Organizational Change,” “Effective, Credible and Accountable Leadership in the C-suite,” and “Aligning Quality Management and Health Equity to Improve Outcomes.”

Worth six credits each, these three seminars cover many of the pressing issues in the healthcare industry today—how to properly assess and create programs to align equity with reliable and safe care; values-driven leadership and the benefit of embracing compassion and caring as core elements of effective management; and the extent and impact of burnout, building strategies to support clinician wellness.

These sessions can be taken as a group (for a total of 18 ACHE Face-to-Face Education credits) or separately so you can make the most of your time in Florida. Visit ache.org/Orlando to learn more and register.

New Alzheimer’s Drug Spotlights the Importance of Early Detection

The recent approval of the drug Leqembi® (lecanemab) by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration marks a turning point in the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. It is the first drug approved for Alzheimer’s that reduces amyloid plaques—the sticky clumps of protein in the brain that are thought to contribute to the disease.

Neurology experts agree that for Alzheimer’s, as for other neurodegenerative diseases, early treatment provides the best chance of changing the course of the disease. According to the lecanemab label, physicians should confirm the presence of amyloid prior to beginning treatment and should also perform a genetic test to determine whether the patient is at risk for a rare complication of lecanemab treatment. Both requirements can be met by testing a standard blood sample.

The approval of lecanemab marks the beginning of a new phase in the clinical approach to treating Alzheimer’s. Now that targeting the disease before the onset of symptoms is possible, early detection will play an increasing role in guiding treatment decision-making. For the 500,000 Americans diagnosed with Alzheimer’s every year, this presents a reason to hope for a better future.

Help Us Pave the Way to a Bolder, Brighter Future for Our Field

Cultivating leaders who care about equity is at the heart of ACHE’s mission to advance healthcare leadership excellence. To meet the increasingly diverse needs of patients and communities and improve health outcomes, it is critical to help build an inclusive pipeline of talented future healthcare leaders.

ACHE is on a mission to raise $1 million for the Fund for Healthcare Leadership by March 2025. Scholarships from the Fund help diverse, talented individuals acquire the skills and training they need to forge a career path in healthcare leadership. The Fund supports participation in ACHE’s Career Accelerator Program, the Executive Program and the Thomas C. Dolan Executive Diversity Program, as well as additional educational opportunities presented during the year.

Without donor funding, these programs cannot exist, and the need is greater than ever. Please consider a personal gift to the Fund and/or a major gift from your organization to help us achieve our goal of raising $1 million. With your help, we can create a bolder and brighter future in healthcare. Visit ache.org/Fund to learn more about the $1 Million Campaign for Healthcare Leaders of Tomorrow, and make a donation today.

For more information or to discuss gift and pledge options, contact ACHE’s Timothy R. Tlusty, vice president, Development, at ttlusty@ache.org.
