Rulon F. Stacey, PhD, FACHE, is president and chief executive officer, Poudre Valley Health System, Fort Collins, Colo.
He also serves as Chairman of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Dr. Stacey previously served as an ACHE Governor from 2007 to 2010. He was the ACHE Regent for Colorado from 2004 to 2007. Dr. Stacey has been president and chief executive officer of Poudre Valley Health System since 1996. Under his leadership, the health system received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award in 2008, one of only three winning organizations nationally and the only healthcare recipient. Prior to that, he was executive vice president and chief operating officer of St. Francis Hospital and Health Center, Blue Island, Ill., from 1994 to 1996; chief executive officer of St. Vincent General Hospital, Leadville, Colo., and Summit Medical Center, Frisco, Colo., from 1989 to 1994; and assistant administrator of Ninth Strategic Hospital, Beale Air Force Base, Calif., from 1986 to 1989.
Dr. Stacey received ACHE’s Robert S. Hudgens Memorial Award for Young Healthcare Executive of the Year in 1999. He holds numerous board appointments, including chair of the Colorado Hospital Association Political Action Committee, member of its Compensation Committee and a member of the Medical Services Board of Colorado, to which he was appointed by the state’s governor. He was chair of the board of directors of VHA Mountain States from 2006 to 2008, a member of the American Hospital Association’s (AHA) Board of Trustees Committee on Governance from 2004 to 2007, the Colorado delegate for the AHA Regional Policy Board from 2002 to 2005, and a member of the Colorado Hospital Association’s Board of Directors from 1999 to 2005.
He earned his doctoral degree in health policy from the University of Colorado at Denver and his master’s degree in health administration and bachelor’s degree in economics from Brigham Young University.

Ms. Capozzalo was named executive vice president at Yale New Haven Health in 1997. Prior to joining Yale New Haven Health, Ms. Capozzalo was senior vice president of organizational development for the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate World Health Care System in Houston from 1993 to 1997. She also served SSM Health Care System in St. Louis as senior vice president from 1986 to 1993 and as corporate director of planning/marketing from 1982 to 1986. Her previous roles include principal, Health Studies Institute Inc., in Columbia, Mo., from 1981 to 1982; business development staff member at St. Louis University Hospital and Clinics from 1980 to 1981; and a faculty member, University of Missouri–Columbia Graduate Studies in Health Services Management, from 1978 to 1980.
Ms. Capozzalo currently serves as an officer on the board of the CT Association of Healthcare Executives. She chairs the Board of Directors of the Voluntary Hospitals of America Northeast, is immediate past chair and a board member of Connecticut Public Television, and serves on the board of the International Festival of Arts and Ideas.
She received her master’s degree in public health from the University of Missouri–Columbia and her bachelor’s degree in political science and history from the University of Maryland.

Christopher D. Van Gorder, FACHE, is president and chief executive officer, Scripps Health, San Diego.

Mr. Van Gorder has served as president and chief executive officer for Scripps Health since 2000. Scripps Health is a nonprofit, integrated healthcare delivery system with five acute care hospitals, Scripps Clinic, an ambulatory care network and more than 2,600 affiliated physicians. Mr. Van Gorder’s responsibilities include all functions of the $2.3 billion corporation.
From 1999 to 2000, Mr. Van Gorder served Scripps Health as chief of Healthcare Operations. Prior to joining Scripps Health, he served Memorial Health Services (MHS) in Long Beach, Calif., as executive vice president of MHS (1996-1999), chief executive officer of Long Beach Memorial Medical Center (1997-1999) and president and chief executive officer of Anaheim Memorial Medical Center (1995-1997).
Mr. Van Gorder serves as a commissioner on the California Emergency Services Commission and is serving his second term as a commissioner for the United States National Commission for UNESCO. He is also an editorial board member for The Governance Institute and is on the board of directors of the San Diego Regional Economic Development Corp.
He is a clinical professor in health administration at the University of Southern California, where he also serves on the Healthcare Administration Advisory Board of the university’s School of Policy, Planning and Development. In addition, he is a reserve commander in the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Unit and a licensed emergency medical technician.
Mr. Van Gorder received his master’s degree in public health and health services administration from the University of Southern California and his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Los Angeles. He completed the Program for Healthcare System Chief Executive Officers of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Thomas C. Dolan, PhD, FACHE, CAE, is president and chief executive officer of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems, and other healthcare organizations. Before his appointment as president and CEO, Dr. Dolan served as ACHE’s executive vice president. Prior to joining ACHE, he held a variety of teaching, research, and administrative positions at St. Louis University, the University of Missouri-Columbia, the University of Washington, and the University of Iowa.
He has served as chair of the American Society of Association Executives, Association of University Programs in Health Administration, the Association Forum of Chicagoland, and the Institute for Diversity in Health Management. He has also served as president of the Mental Health Association in Missouri and as a member of the board of trustees of Alexian Brothers Hospital in St. Louis. Dr. Dolan is president of the International Hospital Federation, chairperson of the Board of Overseers of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award and serves on the Association Committee of 100 of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
He is board certified in healthcare management and a Fellow of both the American College of Healthcare Executives and the American Society of Association Executives. Dr. Dolan is also a Certified Association Executive. Paula R. Autry, FACHE, is president at Mount Carmel East Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Board certified as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Autry was the Regent-at-Large for District 2 from 2006 through 2007, and Regent-at-Large for District 3 from 2004 through 2005.
Ms. Autry was named president at Mount Carmel East Hospital, a 399-bed acute-care hospital, in 2007. During her tenure, Mount Carmel East has received Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations’ certification as a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center and has been recognized by Thomson Reuters in 2011 as a Top 50 Hospital in Cardiovascular Care. Prior to her current position, Ms. Autry served as executive vice president/administrator of Bon Secours Richmond (Va.) Community Hospital from 2002 to 2007. She also served Erlanger Health System, Chattanooga, Tenn., as senior vice president from 1995 to 2002. She has served the University of South Alabama Medical Center, Mobile, as assistant administrator from 1987 to 1995.
In addition to her service to ACHE, Ms. Autry serves on the American Hospital Association Health Policy Board for District 5 and the board of directors of Taylor Station Family Health and Medigold, a Medicare Advantage program. She has previously served on the board of directors of the Richmond Community Hospital Foundation and Girls Inc. In 2010, she was named by Modern Healthcare as one of the Top 25 Minority Healthcare Executives. And in 2008, she was named to Who’s Who of Black Columbus. She also is a member of the National Association of Health Services Executives and the United Way Key Club, and a former member of CHIP of Virginia and the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Autry received her master of business administration and master of healthcare administration degrees from Tulane University and her bachelor of science degree from the University of Notre Dame.

Prior to that, Ms. Candio served as administrative director of Women’s and Children’s Services at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, N.J., from 1991 to 1999 and as nurse manager of Ambulatory Services from 1987 to 1991. She served as director of Clinical Services at Hospital Home Health Care of New Jersey in Edison from 1985 to 1987. Prior to that, she served as an obstetrical staff nurse at Riverside General Hospital, Secaucus, N.J., from 1984 to 1985 and as a staff nurse at Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston, N.J., from 1983 to 1984.

Richard D. Cordova, FACHE, is president and CEO of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. Cordova served on ACHE’s Nominating Committee from 2008 to 2010. He is also a past-chair of the Institute for Diversity in Health Management, which ACHE co-founded.
Mr. Cordova joined Children’s Hospital Los Angeles as president and COO in 2005 and became president/CEO and a member of the board of trustees in 2006. Prior to that, he was president of the Southern California Region of the Kaiser Permanente Health Plan and Hospitals from 2002 to 2004 and served as COO for Southern California at Kaiser from 1999 to 2002.
He worked with the Department of Public Health for the City and County of San Francisco from 1991 to 1998, as executive administrator of the Community Health Network from 1997 to 1998, and as CEO of San Francisco General Hospital, an acute-care hospital specializing in trauma and AIDS, from 1991 to 1997. Mr. Cordova was a founding member of the San Francisco Public Health Authority from 1996 to 1998, which created the Medi-Cal managed care organization for the city and county of San Francisco.
He also worked with the Department of Health Services for the County of Los Angeles from 1973 to 1991, including service as administrator of the General Hospital of Los Angeles County (LAC/USC Medical Center) from 1986 to 1991. He served as associate hospital administrator of Operations at Olive View Medical Center from 1978 to 1986.
In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Cordova serves on a number of community boards and organizations, including chair of the board of the California Children’s Hospital Association, and board member of the Child Health Corporation of America and the National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions. He also serves on the board of trustees of the California Hospital Association and is a founding member of the National Forum for Latino Healthcare Executives.
Mr. Cordova received an MBA from the Graziadio School of Business and Management at Pepperdine University, and he completed a PEW Fellowship at the National Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems. He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from California State University at Los Angeles.

Edward H. Lamb, FACHE, is division president, Western Division, for IASIS Healthcare in South Jordan, Utah.

He served as chief executive officer of Charter Hospital of the East Valley (Charter Medical Corporation), Chandler, Ariz., from 1991 to 1993 and chief executive officer of River Region Hospital, Vacherie, La., from 1990 to 1991. Mr. Lamb was assistant administrator of Las Encinas Hospital (HCA), Pasadena, Calif., from 1988 to 1990; assistant administrator of Charter Summit Hospital (Charter Medical Corporation), Salt Lake City, from 1986 to 1988; and administrative assistant/medical technologist at Orem (Utah) Community Hospital (Intermountain Healthcare System) from 1983 to 1986.

Board certified as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. Lynch was the ACHE Regent for Texas—Southeast from 2001 to 2005.
In 2005 Mr. Lynch was named president/CEO at Main Line Health System, a multi-faceted integrated healthcare delivery system that employs approximately 10,300 people, 2,100 volunteers, and an affiliated medical staff of approximately 1,900 physicians, dentists and podiatrists. Main Line Health includes Bryn Mawr, Paoli, Lankenau, Riddle Memorial and Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospitals, the Home Care Network, Mirmont Treatment Center, Main Line Health Laboratories, Main Line HealthCare Inc., the Lankenau Institute for Medical Research and other healthcare related services.
Prior to this, Mr. Lynch was the executive vice president/system COO for St. Luke’s Episcopal Health System, Houston, from 2003-2005. He also served St. Luke’s as executive vice president/hospital CEO from 2000 to 2005, Prior to this position, he held a variety of other positions at St. Luke’s.
In addition to his service to ACHE, he has served as a member of the board of the American Hospital Association, the Texas Hospital Association, and the Greater Houston Hospital Service Corporation, and chair of the Hospice at the Texas Medical Center. He is currently a member of the boards of the American Heart Association and the United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Timothy A. Ols, FACHE, is president/CEO of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System in Mattoon, Ill.
He also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. Ols served as the ACHE Regent for Ohio—Southern from 2008 to 2011. He also served as a board member of the Greater Ohio Healthcare Leaders Forum, an ACHE chapter.
Mr. Ols has served as president/CEO of Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System since 2011. Prior to that, he served as president of Southview Medical Center, an osteopathic teaching hospital in Dayton, Ohio, from 2009 to 2011. Southview is a division of the Grandview Medical Center System and part of the six-hospital Kettering Health Network. From 2002 to 2009, he served as executive vice president/COO at Greene Memorial in Xenia, Ohio. Mr. Ols also served as vice president of Operations at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill., from 1998 to 2002. In addition, he held the position of vice president of planning and professional services at Mercy Hospital in Tiffin, Ohio, from 1993 to 1998, and vice president of marketing and planning at Mercy Hospital in Willard, Ohio, from 1990 to 1993.
In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Ols has also served on community boards and organizations including United Way, Boys and Girls Club, Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis and Rotary. He has been a Boy Scout leader for 10 years and served as scoutmaster of Troop 375 in Bellbrook, Ohio.
Mr. Ols received his master’s degree in business administration and a bachelor’s degree in social service from Cleveland State University.

Diana L. Smalley, FACHE, is regional president, Oklahoma communities, Mercy, in Oklahoma City.
She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.
Board certified as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Smalley was the Regent for Nebraska from 2002 through 2006.
Prior to her current position, Ms. Smalley served as president/CEO at Mercy Health System of Oklahoma from 2007 to 2011. Prior to that, she served Avantas LLC, Omaha, Neb., as president from 2005 to 2007. At Alegent Health, Omaha, Neb., her roles included senior executive from 2003 to 2005, vice president for operations from 1999 to 2003, and COO from 1997 to 1999.
She also served Avantas LLC as co-founder/managing representative from 1999 to 2004. Her previous roles included Midlands Community Hospital, Papillion, Neb., as CEO from 1995 to 1997, COO from 1983 to 1995, and Director of Nursing from 1979 to 1983; Springfield (Ill.) Community Hospital as its director of professional relations from 1976 to 1979.
In addition to her service to ACHE, Ms. Smalley has been a member of the Board of Directors of Memorial Community Hospital, the Nebraska Stroke Foundation and the Nebraska Board of Ambulance Advisors, serving as its chair. She is currently on the board of directors for the Oklahoma State Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Greater Oklahoma City.
Ms. Smalley received her master’s degree in public health from University of Minnesota and her bachelor’s degree from Midland Lutheran College.

Darlene Stromstad, FACHE, is president and CEO of Waterbury (Conn.) Hospital.
She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Stromstad was the ACHE Regent for Maine from 2007 to 2010. She also served on the board of the Northern New England Association of Healthcare Executives, an ACHE chapter.
Ms. Stromstad serves on the board of directors of the Maine Hospital Association and has also served on its Quality Council. She also serves on the first board of the Sanford Growth Council. Ms. Stromstad has held several other board appointments, including the New Hampshire Hospital Association Government Relations Committee; United Way of York County (Maine); the Greater Nashua (N.H.) Chamber of Commerce, where she was also chairman; the Greater Nashua (N.H.) YMCA; the Adult Learning Center, Nashua, N.H.; and the Sanford/Springvale (Maine) Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Stromstad has been president and CEO of Waterbury Hospital since 2011. Prior to that, she was president/CEO of Goodall Hospital, Sanford, Maine, from 2005 to 2011, senior vice president/chief strategy officer of Catholic Medical Center, Manchester, N.H., from 1999 to 2004 and senior vice president, Managed Care/Network Development, of Olympus Healthcare Group Inc., Waltham, Mass., from 1997 to 1999.
In addition, she served as vice president, Marketing and Planning, of St. Joseph Healthcare, Nashua, N.H., from 1988 to 1996 and director, Community Relations/Business Development, for Medcenter One, Bismarck, N.D., from 1981 to 1987.
Ms. Stromstad received a master of business administration degree from Rivier College in Nashua, N.H., and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of North Dakota.

Stephen C. Waldhoff, FACHE, is the chief administrative officer at Mayo Clinic Health System-Albert Lea, part of Mayo Health System, in Albert Lea, Minn.
He also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare executives dedicated to improving healthcare delivery.
Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Mr. Waldhoff served as the ACHE Regent for Minnesota from 2005 to 2008.
He was named chief administrative officer of Albert Lea Medical Center, a 257-bed regional medical center, in 1997. Prior to his current position, he held multiple positions at Rochester Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., serving as an administrator from 1993 to 1997, associate administrator from 1988 to 1993, and assistant administrator from 1984 to 1988. In addition, Mr. Waldhoff held the position of associate administrator for Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands, Calif., from 1978 to 1983, and assistant administrator at Martin Luther Hospital Medical Center in Anaheim, Calif., from 1976 to 1978. He also served as administrative resident at Lutheran Hospital Society of Southern California in Los Angeles from 1975 to 1976.
In addition to his service to ACHE, Mr. Waldhoff serves on a number of professional and community boards of directors, including the Minnesota Hospital Association, Mayo Health System, Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation and the Albert Lea Business Development Center.
Mr. Waldhoff earned a master’s degree in hospital administration and a bachelor’s degree in speech/communications from the University of Minnesota.

Lori L. Wightman, RN, FACHE, is president at Unity Hospital, part of Allina Health System, in Fridley, Minn.
She also serves on the Board of Governors of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of more than 35,000 healthcare executives who lead hospitals, healthcare systems and other healthcare organizations. Board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow, Ms. Wightman served as the ACHE Regent for Minnesota from 2008 to 2011.
Ms. Wightman was named president of Unity Hospital, a 275-bed acute-care hospital, in 2011. Prior to her current position, she served as president of New Ulm (Minn.) Medical Center from 2002 to 2010, assuming additional administrative oversight of Owatonna (Minn.) Hospital beginning in 2006 through 2010. She also served the Allina Hospitals and Clinics System as vice president of Operations for the Regional Health Services from 2001 to 2002.
In addition to her service to ACHE, Ms. Wightman has been a member of the Minnesota Association of the American College of Healthcare Executives; secretary/treasurer for the Minnesota Hospital Association, Region 6; member of Senator Coleman’s Rural Economic Development Advisory Task Force; and a member of the New Ulm Rotary and the New Ulm Chamber. She is currently licensed as a registered nurse in Minnesota.
Ms. Wightman received a master’s degree in health administration from the University of Colorado–Denver. She received a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Moorhead State University and an associate’s degree in nursing from North Dakota State University.
