Chapter Management and Awards Program

The purpose of the ACHE Chapter Management and Awards Program is to ensure the consistent delivery of quality services to ACHE affiliates by ACHE chapters. The awards and recognition system is designed to acknowledge superior chapter performance based on objectively measured results.

Award Performance Indicators

Membership Satisfaction
Member satisfaction is measured on a 10-point scale based on the survey question: “Overall, how satisfied are you with your local chapter?”

Education and Networking Performance
Education and networking performance is measured by summing the product of the number of hours of programming at each event, multiplied by the number of attendees to each event for each event, and dividing the sum by the total chapter membership at the beginning of the current year.

Net Membership Growth
Net membership growth is measured by the percentage difference between the total number of ACHE affiliated chapter members in all membership categories at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year.

Award Performance Standards

The standards for each of these indicators (the level a chapter must meet to qualify for an award) are set annually based on the 90th percentile of chapter performance for the indicator in the just completed calendar year.

In 2008, total number of ACHE affiliates located in the chapter territory will substitute for total chapter membership in the calculation of award performance standards and actual performance for education and networking performance and net membership growth.

Award Levels

A chapter must be fully chartered to be eligible to win any of the chapter performance awards. The levels of awards and the criteria for each are listed below:

Awards	Criteria
Award of Chapter Merit	Awarded to all chapters that meet at least one of the three performance standards needed to qualify for the Award for Chapter Excellence.
Award of Chapter Distinction	Awarded to all chapters that meet at least two of the three performance standards needed to qualify for the Award for Chapter Excellence.
Award for Chapter Excellence	Awarded to all chapters that meet all three of the performance standards.
Award for Sustained Chapter Excellence	Awarded to all chapters that continue to meet or exceed all three performance standards for a continuous four years.

Recognition

There is no limit on the number of chapters that can be recognized at any of the award levels. All fully chartered chapters that meet the criteria for any award level will be recognized.

ACHE recognition
The chapter president of any winner of the Award for Chapter Excellence or Sustained Chapter Excellence will receive an engraved plaque during the annual Congress on Healthcare Leadership. In addition, ACHE will announce the award winner(s) in press releases and ACHE publications. The chapter president of any winner for the Awards of Chapter Merit or Chapter Distinction will be recognized at the chapter leader reception during Congress.

Chapter recognition
Recognition pins will be provided to the chapter president of any award winning chapter for presentation to chapter officers and key chapter volunteers. The chapter also will receive an appropriate graphic for use on the chapter's stationery and Web site.
